Charles Peterson's seventh and FINAL in the seven print series, A Week In Door County is TGIF At Wilson's

Ephraim has long been accustomed to crowds made up of all ages assembling at the one hundred year old Wilson's Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant. This is the liveliest place in town on any night of the week, but on Fridays when tourists arrive to enjoy their ice cream cones inside or out... well, it's "Thank God It's Friday" at Wilson's.

Saturday Night at Ruckerts Store by Charles Peterson

Ruckert's Store has been the shopping center for Ellison Bay, Wisconsin for more than a century; part grocery store, part hardware and part drugstore. Charles Peterson has imagined it here on a wintry night in the 1950's when the store would likely have been the only action in town. Gus Klenke crosses over from his garage for a loaf of bread and a bit of friendly conversation.

This is the very first Giclee on Watercolor paper Charles Peterson has ever published. This new technology allows for the use of authentic watercolor paper for a look so close to the original that they are almost indistinguishable. Keep in mind that there are only 600 signed and numbered prints in this low edition.

This is the very first the Special Places of Door County, a 7 print series. One for each day of the week.

"Traditionally, the first day of the week has been one on which almost everyone returned to their labors, men to their work, hosewives to their laundry, kids back to their schools. This corner in Fish Creek has long been dominated by tthe historic Noble family home looking down toward the harbor past Alwes Store, the C and C Club and Summertime Restaurant."

Sunday Twice Blessed by Charles Peterson

" In the 1850's Norwegian Moravians established a settlement on the hills overlooking beautiful Eagle Harbor, calling it Ephraim -- 'twice blessed.' Familiar church steeples stand above the village as witnesses to that heritage. I picture them here on a Sunday afternoon, resting quietly under threatening skies as a sudden burst of sunlight offers a metaphoric promise of salvation, as well as real hope for a brighter tomorrow"

"Readin', 'Ritin', 'Rithmatic and Recess. People often talk about getting back the the "Three Rs" of the old days. But those of us who were there know there were four, not three. Recess was where we learned about swings and marbles and jump ropes ... and people. And life. Maybe it's a good thing we didn't know how beneficial it was; it may not have been so darn much fun."

"Once again, Charles L. Peterson has captured an American tradition as only he can. It's a perfect day for a Hey, what the... isn't that the letter jacket from "One on One." And the manikin from "Stitch in Time." Geez. And the old barber from "First Haircut". This ain't no ordinary Yard Sale. Nope. The fact is, nearly everything (and everybody) in "Yard Sale" has appeared in a previous Memories painting - more than 65 items in all."

It was 16 years ago that "Sunday Hitch" first introduced Charles Peterson and his unique "memory" paintings to a national audience. "A Painter's Memories", the 60th release, completes one of the most popular print series ever published. Here we find Charles Peterson in the process of painting this very scene, still pondering what activities may have accompanied these curiously placed, hilltop chirs. Familiar faces (all from previous paintings) provide the answer, having gathered there in his thoughts for his final reunion ... this final "memory" of The Memories Collection.
