"This painting is a little unusual for me and allowed me to step into a different area of subject matter," says Steve Hanks. "I am not a western artist, I am a figurative artist. Yet, this painting reflects what I've known most of my life. My father and brother worked side by side on my father's ranch for many years and I always wanted to capture the two of them in this place that is so important to my father," he continued. "Creating this painting gave me the chance to look into his world and show it from my own perspective. My father is turning 86 this year and still thinks of this place as paradise ... as the place where the grass is greener."
